While at my appointment I was treated like a plague by staff for not having vaccine. I had covid 2 years ago at the start of the pandemic. I’m a science professional and my condition makes it impossible for me to get any shots of any kind. As it starts an immune response that attacks my own cells, destroying my organs. I spoke of my stroke in 2011 and the heart surgery I had at that time. I have muscle atrophy on my left side. I have spastic muscles due to inflammation from connective tissue disease/Lupus. I have seen Dr Roldon for 10 years now. I have never been treated that way prior to this past year. When I asked if physical therapy would benefit my stroke side and help prevent my ride side from pulling my spine out of alignment so often he said yes but getting the disease under control was best instead of adding more meds. He went up on my injections cautiously and ordered me therapy. He walked me to the nurse station and handed someone my lab orders. I go strait to lab after my visits due to methotrexate toxicity. After labs I asked them for copies of that days notes lans drawn etc. I’ve had trouble with them filing insurance in the past. Nothing on my files ever listed RA as my diagnosis. In ten years. So imagine my surprise when I get a call from my local therapist and she says he ordered therapy for RA. Hmmmm I asked if I could see the papers he sent. Yup. I have a script saying diagnosis RA. I show her my actual paper that lists my diagnosis and my current inflamed condition. She says to me we can’t treat you for that. We have been told to treat for RA. That she could have tore my connective tissues in my condition had I not told her. I explained my immune sets off an immune response when I try to exercise and it’s a vicious cycle. I have to be very careful. I want to maintain balance so to prevent more muscle atrophy without causing damage to tissue and ligaments. She said I would need to go to a specialty hospital for that so they could monitor my immune response to their exercises. She told me to continue light stretches without pain. If pain experienced, not to over stretch as I could tear the tissue from the bone. Needing invasive surgery to repair. She said to inform the office of their mistake. I called and left messages with nurse on Roldon’s number. No reply as of yet. I did not wish to deny therapy. However it needs to be referred to a facility that knows how to treat and monitor my condition. My hospital here in Del Rio is not equipped to help me. I have been to stat hospital and it is costly as they do not take my new insurance. RA is similar in some ways. However my condition has 4 other diagnosis from other special doctors. My condition involves systemic inflammation. Not the bones.
